Fffffffffff, whether or not she even sees this, whatever lol, but I truly LOVE Kay's writing style!! ;O; Especially her latest work for that novel competition NaNoWriMo thingy, here it is~
Just so emotional and realistic, with some amusing lines and a wonderful pace to it, aaaahh, I don't even think she understands HOW wonderful it is, ha, the best writers rarely do, hehe. I was aiming for the same kinda thing myself: tackling real issues, but with that magic lighter, humorous touch. It doesn't get boring that way, and her personality totally shows in her choice of words X) makes it pleasant and lively to read actually.
Also writing from first person just makes it even more personal, putting you straight into the mind of the speaker. Someone telling their own story is always instantly gripping!! Also that she soon expresses Masato's concern for how he feels about Kiyo, causing a small problem that they need to solve to simply move on with 'being friends', totally makes you wanna read more. It's these kinda stories that make mind childs/real people lol, seem so ALIVE~
