I get down a lot when I over think my characters too much, I really do. I often think they're not unique enough or original enough, pffft. They may not be super original, but at least they're mine~ I felt like making a stamp with that quote lols.
Then sometimes, once I've drawn something, I feel better about myself and their designs. Mainly coz no matter how I pair them up and compare them to each other, they're actually all quite different 8') it made me proud, proud that I've came so far on my own and created pretty decent characters without even realising. I had the ideas, I always have, I was just never a good enough artist to portray those ideas fully. Little example of this is Krissie's always had a big-ish round nose lol, but I never drew it properly nor exaggerated it enough. It was all down to my cartooning skills. Skills of which sucked a mere year ago ;n;
I was a failure OTL but if I had to give any cartoonist out there advice, I'd simply say: Watch and copy your favorite ever cartoon characters!! Whether from your childhood, or now, you can learn soooo much if you simply copy, and copy gooood nya? ;D the most basic shapes make up the likes of TDI and Dexter's lab, but I opted for a more anime-ish style when I was 10, being highly influenced by the likes of Pokemon from a young age lol. Not the best example for a true cartoonist to follow, meh XP
Either way, draw in a style you're truly comfy and satisfied with <3
Not happy with your style yet?? Keep trying new things and practicing, you'll get there one day 8)
